Salary: $23,000 includes benefits and MERC

Our mission is to make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve, and we are looking for a Youth Engagement Specialist to join our team and help us strengthen our impact.

Overview
As a Youth Engagement Specialist, will play a key role in delivering a youth development
program tailored for youth aged 12-17 who identify as ACB. This program seeks to empower
participants by improving mental health and emotional well-being, fostering leadership skills,
and supporting academic success. The Specialist will lead engaging workshops, coordinate
mentorship and tutoring sessions, and inspire creative self-expression through culturally
relevant programming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Youth Engagement and Workshop Facilitation
    • Lead interactive workshops focusing on academic support, leadership, and emotional well-being.
    • Facilitate tutoring sessions in collaboration with 3 tutors and guide youth in scholarship preparation and academic achievement.
    • Incorporate creative activities, such as art and journaling, to foster self-expression and engagement.
  • Mentorship Coordination and Support
    • Coordinate mentor-led sessions, focusing on motivation and education.
    • Build strong relationships with youth to ensure meaningful participation in all program components.
  • Creative Programming
    • Utilize resources like art supplies, heat press equipment, and Chromebooks
to implement dynamic and engaging activities.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all participants.
  • Logistics and Reporting
    • Support the Program Coordinator with managing supplies, venue setup, and participant attendance.
    • Provide feedback and insights to inform program improvements and reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in youth work, education, or a related field [or equivalent experience].
  • Experience working with youth aged 12-17, with a focus on academic and social/emotional development.
  • Knowledge of youth mental health, scholarship preparation, and leadership development.
  • Creative facilitation skills, with the ability to engage youth in meaningful and innovative activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate participants.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and social media engagement is an asset.

This is a hybrid position. Applicants must be able to work comfortably in-office twice a week in Mississauga.
