Salary: $23,000 includes benefits and MERC

Overview
As a Youth Engagement Specialist, will play a key role in delivering a youth development
program tailored for youth aged 12-17 who identify as ACB. This program seeks to empower
participants by improving mental health and emotional well-being, fostering leadership skills,
and supporting academic success. The Specialist will lead engaging workshops, coordinate
mentorship and tutoring sessions, and inspire creative self-expression through culturally
relevant programming.

Key Responsibilities
- Youth Engagement and Workshop Facilitation
- Lead interactive workshops focusing on academic support, leadership, and emotional well-being.
- Facilitate tutoring sessions in collaboration with 3 tutors and guide youth in scholarship preparation and academic achievement.
- Incorporate creative activities, such as art and journaling, to foster self-expression and engagement.
- Mentorship Coordination and Support
- Coordinate mentor-led sessions, focusing on motivation and education.
- Build strong relationships with youth to ensure meaningful participation in all program components.
- Creative Programming
- Utilize resources like art supplies, heat press equipment, and Chromebooks
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all participants.
- Logistics and Reporting
- Support the Program Coordinator with managing supplies, venue setup, and participant attendance.
- Provide feedback and insights to inform program improvements and reporting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in youth work, education, or a related field [or equivalent experience].
- Experience working with youth aged 12-17, with a focus on academic and social/emotional development.
- Knowledge of youth mental health, scholarship preparation, and leadership development.
- Creative facilitation skills, with the ability to engage youth in meaningful and innovative activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate participants.
- Familiarity with digital tools and social media engagement is an asset.
This is a hybrid position. Applicants must be able to work comfortably in-office twice a week in Mississauga.
