About the Program
Managing household expenses, rising grocery costs and competing financial priorities can be challenging. These workshops offer practical ways to plan your spending, build saving habits and feel more confident making everyday money decisions.
As part of Care Masters Women & Family Services’ Food Security Program, we are offering free virtual financial literacy workshops for African, Caribbean, and Black women in Peel Region and across the GTA.
Through interactive sessions, you’ll learn practical strategies for budgeting, managing household expenses, saving and working toward financial goals. The workshops will also explore credit, debt and ways to plan for groceries and other essential expenses.
You can register for one or both workshops based on your availability. Attendance at both sessions is not required.
What you will learn

Creating and managing a household budget
Planning for groceries and other essential household expenses
Managing everyday expenses and financial priorities
Building practical saving habits
Setting short- and long-term financial goals
Understanding credit and managing debt
Making informed financial decisions
Building confidence in managing your money

Who Can Participate?
The workshops are open to African, Caribbean, and Black women in Peel Region and across the GTA who want to strengthen their financial knowledge and develop practical skills to manage household expenses and financial priorities.
Participation is free, and no previous financial knowledge or training is required. You do not need to have participated in another Care Masters program.
You can register for one or both sessions based on your availability.

Why is financial literacy part of the Food Security Program?
Food security is influenced by more than access to food. Grocery costs, income and other essential expenses can all affect a household’s ability to consistently access nutritious food. These workshops offer practical budgeting and planning skills to help women manage household resources, including spending on groceries and other essentials.
